Hyperemesis Gravidarum

Hyperemesis gravidarum, is severe pregnancy related nausea and vomiting. Not only is it uncomfortable, but can be debilitating and potentially dangerous causing electrolyte imbalance, weight loss, and dehydration. Although the cause is not 100% known, it is believed that it is caused by the rise in hormone levels when pregnant.

Back Pain

During pregnancy, a women’s body goes through many changes. One of which is posture changes. With a growing baby in the front, an increase in the curvature in the low back often occurs causing back pain.

Round Ligament Pain

During pregnancy, the round ligaments need to stretch to support pregnancy. This can often times cause intense pain in the lower abdomen and groin area. It can be one-sided or present on both sides.

Breech Presentation

It is estimated that 15% of babies will be in the breech position at weeks 29-32. Acupuncture has been used for decades to help turn breech babies to a head down position. Using a very gentle technique which involves moxa (an herb). The moxa is placed on the mother’s baby toe and heat is applied. The best time to try this is between 32-35 weeks, when the baby is still small enough to flip. This technique is completely safe for pregnancy.

Anxiety

Becoming a mother can cause extreme anxiety. This is a very common condition during pregnancy.

Preparing the Body for Birth
